- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté until translucent and fragrant.
- Add ground beef, cook until browned and cooked through. Season with salt, pepper, oregano, and basil. Set aside.
- Cook orzo pasta in salted boiling water until al dente, then drain and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked beef mixture, cooked orzo, diced tomatoes, and beef broth. Mix thoroughly.
- Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. For a crispy top, broil for 2-3 minutes.
