Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ½ cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm milk
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- Optional: sesame seeds or poppy seeds for topping
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle yeast over the top and let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add melted butter, egg, and activated yeast mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Turn dough onto a floured surface and divide into 12 equal portions. Shape each into a ball and place in a greased baking dish.
- Let the shaped rolls rise for 30 minutes, preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown. Brush with melted butter for a shiny finish.
Notes
- For added flavor, incorporate herbs or cheese into the dough before shaping.
- Ensure proper rising times for fluffy, well-textured rolls.
- You can freeze leftovers for up to 1 month and reheat as needed.
