Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 green onions, chopped
- Sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, soy sauce, and ginger. Form into 1-inch meatballs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides, about 5 minutes.
- Transfer meatballs to a baking dish and bake for 15 minutes until cooked through.
- Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix water, hoisin sauce, and brown sugar. Pour into the skillet used for browning, bringing to a simmer.
- Add cooked meatballs to the sauce, tossing to coat evenly. Cook for an additional 5 minutes to marry flavors.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, simmer the sauce longer to thicken.
- Serve with steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.
