Tender beef meatballs cooked in a flavorful Asian-inspired sauce, perfect for quick weeknight dinners or entertaining guests.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, soy sauce, and ginger. Form into 1-inch meatballs.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides, about 5 minutes.
  3. Transfer meatballs to a baking dish and bake for 15 minutes until cooked through.
  4. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix water, hoisin sauce, and brown sugar. Pour into the skillet used for browning, bringing to a simmer.
  5. Add cooked meatballs to the sauce, tossing to coat evenly. Cook for an additional 5 minutes to marry flavors.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, simmer the sauce longer to thicken.
  • Serve with steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.
