Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- Optional: cream cheese frosting or glaze for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet until a soft dough forms.
- In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and ground cinnamon for the filling.
- Divide the dough into two halves. Roll each between parchment paper into rectangles about ¼ inch thick.
- Spread the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over each rectangle.
- Roll each rectangle tightly into a log, then slice into ½-inch pieces.
- Arrange the slices on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from oven, cool slightly, then optionally top with cream cheese frosting or glaze.
Notes
- Ensure even rolling and tight wrapping for perfect cinnamon swirl patterns.
- Chill dough if it becomes sticky for easier slicing.
- Use quality nonstick baking sheets for best results.
- For a richer flavor, substitute part of the butter with cream cheese.
