Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pink and red food coloring
  • Frosting: 1 cup powdered sugar, 2-3 tablespoons milk, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • Sprinkles and Heart-shaped decorations

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add vanilla extract and mix well. Gradually add flour and baking powder, mixing until dough forms.
  4. Divide dough into two and tint with pink and red food coloring.
  5. Roll out dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  6. Cut cookies into heart shapes using cookie cutter.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden. Cool completely.
  8. Prepare frosting by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  9. Spread frosting on the bottom of one cookie, top with another to form a sandwich. Decorate with sprinkles and decorations.
