- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pink and red food coloring
- Frosting: 1 cup powdered sugar, 2-3 tablespoons milk, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- Sprinkles and Heart-shaped decorations
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add vanilla extract and mix well. Gradually add flour and baking powder, mixing until dough forms.
- Divide dough into two and tint with pink and red food coloring.
- Roll out dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Cut cookies into heart shapes using cookie cutter.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden. Cool completely.
- Prepare frosting by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Spread frosting on the bottom of one cookie, top with another to form a sandwich. Decorate with sprinkles and decorations.
Notes
- Optional: Use different colored frosting for variety.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
