- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
- Set up a breading station with flour, beaten eggs, and bread crumbs.
- Dredge each chicken breast in flour, then dip in eggs, and coat with bread crumbs.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Brown chicken on both sides until golden, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Place browned chicken in the baking dish. Spoon marinara sauce over each piece.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until cheese is bubbly and chicken is cooked through.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving. Serve hot with pasta or a side salad.
Notes
- You can use panko bread crumbs for extra crunch.
- For a lighter version, use part-skim cheese.
