Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large loaf of Italian crusty bread
- 2 cups cooked spaghetti (preferably al dente)
- 1 cup marinara sauce or your favorite pasta sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: cooked sausage, meatballs, or vegetables for added flavor
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the loaf of Italian bread horizontally, creating a top and bottom. Carefully hollow out some of the bread from the center to create a cavity for the spaghetti filling, leaving about 1-inch thick walls.
- In a small bowl, combine minced garlic, olive oil, and a pinch of salt. Brush this garlic butter generously onto the cut sides of the bread, both inside the cavity and on the exterior for a golden crust.
- In a mixing bowl, toss cooked spaghetti with marinara sauce, half of the shredded mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix in cooked sausage or vegetables if desired. Stuff the spaghetti mixture into the hollowed-out bread until filled generously.
- Place the stuffed bread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese. Bake uncovered for about 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden, broil for an additional 2 minutes if extra crispiness is desired.
Notes
- Use freshly baked bread for a better crust and flavor.
- Be careful not to overstuff the bread to prevent spilling during baking.
- You can customize the filling with different cheeses, meats, or vegetables to suit your taste.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven for best texture.
