Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar or honey
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 green onion, sliced for garnish
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
- Cooked rice or cauliflower rice, for serving
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Sauté until fragrant and onions are translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
- Pour the prepared sauce over the beef mixture. Stir well to coat evenly. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
- Serve the flavorful beef over hot cooked rice or cauliflower rice. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. For an extra kick, add a drizzle of your favorite hot sauce.
Notes
- Adjust spice level by adding more or less red pepper flakes.
- Use cauliflower rice for a low-carb option.
- Make ahead and store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- For added flavor, include sliced vegetables like bell peppers or spinach.
