- 1 large head of cabbage
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil, and blanch the cabbage leaves until pliable. Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté onion and garlic until translucent.
- In a bowl, combine ground meat, cooked rice, sautéed onions, salt, and pepper.
- Place a scoop of the filling onto each cabbage leaf, roll tightly, and secure with toothpicks if needed.
- Arrange the rolls in a baking dish, pour tomato sauce over them.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30 minutes until heated through and lightly browned.
Notes
- You can substitute ground beef with turkey or plant-based alternatives for a healthier or vegetarian version.
- Serve with extra tomato sauce or a dollop of sour cream for added flavor.
