- 1 head of cabbage
- 1 pound ground beef or chicken
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can tomato sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Core the cabbage and blanch leaves in boiling water until pliable, then drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté onion and garlic until translucent.
- Mix ground meat, cooked rice, sautéed onion and garlic, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Place a spoonful of filling on each cabbage leaf and roll tightly.
- Arrange rolls in a baking dish and cover with tomato sauce.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until cooked through.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, substitute ground meat with lentils or mushrooms.
- Serve with extra tomato sauce and fresh herbs.
