- 1 large head of green cabbage
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Core the cabbage and blanch leaves in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until softened. Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté diced onion and garlic until translucent.
- Mix cooked rice, ground meat, sautéed onions, garlic, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Lay a cabbage leaf flat, place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center, and roll up, tucking in the sides.
- Repeat with remaining leaves and filling.
- Arrange rolls in a baking dish, pour marinara sauce over the top, and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
- Feel free to substitute beef with turkey or chicken.
- For a vegetarian version, use plant-based meat and cheese substitutes.
- Serve hot with a side salad or crusty bread.
