Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef or minced beef
- 4 large potatoes, sliced into thin rounds
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional for topping)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a large oven-proof skillet or baking dish.
- In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat, then add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Add the ground beef, paprika, dried thyme, salt, and pepper and cook until browned, breaking it apart while cooking.
- Remove from heat. Layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom of your prepared baking dish.
- Spread the cooked beef mixture evenly over the potatoes and top with the remaining potato slices.
- Drizzle the remaining olive oil over the top and season with additional salt and pepper if needed. Sprinkle grated cheddar cheese if desired.
- Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes until potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown, broil for extra crispiness if desired.
- Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- Use thinly sliced potatoes for even cooking.
- Add sliced vegetables like carrots or bell peppers for flavor.
- For a spicier kick, include red pepper flakes.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
