- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 4 cups beef or chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 8 lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Heat a large pot over medium heat and cook sausage until browned. Remove excess fat.
- Add chopped onion and garlic; cook until softened.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes, broth, and add oregano, basil, red pepper flakes.
- Bring to a boil, then add broken lasagna noodles. Cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
- Stir in shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil and extra cheese if desired.
Notes
- You can substitute ground beef or turkey for sausage.
- For a vegetarian version, use plant-based sausage and vegetarian broth.
- Adjust red pepper flakes for spice preference.
