Ingredients
Scale
- 6 large croissants, sliced into thirds
- 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate bars
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup of whole milk or cream
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
- Fresh berries or whipped cream for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Arrange sliced croissants evenly, then sprinkle chocolate chips among them.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk or cream, sugar, and vanilla until well combined.
- Pour the custard evenly over the croissants, ensuring all pieces are coated. Gently press down and let sit for 10-15 minutes to allow absorption.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown and custard is set. Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar and topped with berries or whipped cream if desired.
Notes
- Can be prepared a day ahead, refrigerated, and baked fresh in the morning.
- Try substituting chocolate with Nutella, caramel chips, or fruit preserves for variety.
- Reheat leftovers in the microwave for 30 seconds or in the oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes for a crispy finish.
