- 1 large head of cabbage
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Core the cabbage and boil in water until leaves are tender, about 5 minutes. Drain and separate leaves.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil, sauté onion and garlic until translucent.
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, sautéed onion and garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Place a spoonful of mixture onto each cabbage leaf, roll tightly, and place in a baking dish.
- Pour tomato sauce over the rolls and cover with foil.
- Bake for 40 minutes until cooked through and sauce is bubbly.
Notes
- For vegetarian version, substitute with lentils or mushrooms.
- Serve with a side of mashed potatoes or crusty bread.
