Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1/4 cup ice-cold water
- 4 medium apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 egg, beaten
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour and cold butter. Cut in with a pastry cutter or fingers until crumbly.
- Add ice water gradually and mix until dough forms. Divide into 8 equal portions, wrap, and chill for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out each dough ball on a floured surface into a circle.
- Fill each circle with a spoonful of apple filling, fold over, and seal the edges with a fork or your fingers.
- Brush the tops with beaten egg and cut small slits on top for steam escape.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- Use crisp, tart apples like Granny Smith for best flavor.
- Chill the dough for easier handling and flaky crusts.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for added indulgence.
