Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions, thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook until onions are deep golden and caramelized, about 20-25 minutes.
- Roll out pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer to a baking sheet or pizza stone.
- Spread caramelized onions evenly over the dough.
- Top with shredded mozzarella and Gruyere cheese.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly and browned.
- Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve hot.
