- 1 loaf day-old brioche or challah bread, sliced
- 3 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/3 cup brown sugar

- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Arrange sliced bread in an even layer in the dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk eggs, milk, cream, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and nutmeg until combined.
- Spread apple slices over the bread, then pour the egg mixture evenly over everything.
- Let sit for 10 minutes to absorb, then bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes until golden and puffed.
- Allow to cool slightly, dust with powdered sugar, and serve warm.
