A creamy, flavorful cheesesteak potato soup that combines tender beef, potatoes, and melted cheese into a satisfying bowl.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef or thinly sliced steak
  • 4 large potatoes, diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk or cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same pot, melt butter and sauté onions and garlic until translucent.
  3. Add diced potatoes, beef broth, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce to simmer until potatoes are tender, about 15 minutes.
  4. Stir in cooked beef, shredded cheese, and milk. Cook until cheese melts and soup is heated through.
  5. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground beef with sliced sirloin for a more authentic cheesesteak flavor.
  • Add a dash of hot sauce for spicy variation.
