Ingredients
Scale
- 6 large croissants (day-old croissants work best)
- 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup of heavy cream or whole milk
- 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the croissants into thick pieces and evenly layer them in a greased baking dish. Distribute the chocolate chips over the croissants.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined. Pour this custard evenly over the layered croissants and chocolate. Gently press down to soak each piece.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and the custard is set. Optionally, broil for 1 minute for a crispy top, keeping a close watch.
Notes
- Use day-old croissants for better absorption and a crispier texture.
- Adjust the sweetness by increasing or decreasing the sugar.
- Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the custard for extra flavor.
- Top with powdered sugar, whipped cream, or nuts for a customized touch.
